Based in Hong Kong, the artist Bao has always travelled in her dreamlike universe, inspired by mangas. Prolific, poetic and joyful, the artist draws her little “Creatures” from her overflowing imagination. Depicting stories with her unmistakable line, this laser-cut steel lithograph reveals all the subtleties of her favourite characters playing with their environment. In its entirety and in its details, this work invites us to dive into Bao‘s magical world.

"Creatures" is a harmonious combination of Bao's favourite characters and their natural surroundings. The mischievous faces emerge from the leaves and flowers in soft autumn colours. Like a labyrinth, one walks along the twisted branches connecting and enclosing the whole, revealing here an animal, there a mushroom. Other creatures watch over you, like the big-eyed frogs that cleverly camouflage themselves in this dreamlike landscape. Look for them and you will find many!
This work, whose contours are laser-cut for great precision and restitution, is fixed on spacers that allow it to be detached from the wall by 30mm, the shadows cast by the outline thus changing according to the light of day and night.
