House of paint – The “Cover It” event

A premiere in Vietnam : one house in Saigon center entirely graffiti by street artists before its demolition !

An exceptional immersive experience… once in a lifetime

On the 14.11.2020, HOUSE of PAINT opened its doors for the very first time after weeks of preparation. Many of you joined us and lived this exceptional experience!

A month before, DRIP’IN grabbed a house intended for destruction with the idea of turning it into a truly ephemeral artistic work. Many street artists got excited about the project and built HOUSE of PAINT one by one.

HOUSE of PAINT’s vocation was to bring in Vietnam this street art culture, still unknown or stigmatized in Vietnam, as well as to be able to bring our help to people coming from this environment which inspired all our projects: the street.

Guests have been driven into an urban art world, among the artists of course, but also awarded DJ Goosebumps and DJ Mino To, the famous hip-hop dancers Urban Dance Group, the rapper Minh Lai, a stunning video mapping and a live paint made by the artists uniquely for the occasion.

Special artworks created by artists at the HOUSE of PAINT on D-day have been sold during an auction animated by the MC Stefan Leyshon in favor of the Vietnamese NGO Poussières de Vie.

House of Paint has been given back for its destruction mid January 2021.

Beyond the glitz and glamour of the city’s magic, Saigon has always had its urban artists and its walls were long a haven for aspiring painters, graffiti artists, creatives, and young innovators alike.

Last month Drip’In held a showcase running until January 5th, 2021 at N21 in District 3 of HCMC to highlight works of all sizes that created a singular artistic journey, with the ultimate goal of forming a cohesive link between street art, the urban landscape, and the public.

This month, DRIP’IN kicks off its Street Art celebration with “House of paint- Covert it all “ a major exhibition promoting Street art artists, but also an event where art meets social responsibility for a unique fundraising event for the benefit of Poussière de Vie an ONG helping disadvantaged people and children in Vietnam.

For this event, the challenge was to bring together — in an unexpected place of unusual proportions — artists from the urban art world for a monumental and ephemeral exhibition in the heart of the city. Dominique Mourey, founder of Drip’In, invited artists from the emerging local and international urban art scene to paint their creations in a space unlike most have ever experienced as graphic designer: a house in District 2 of HCMC intended to disappear shortly.

The physical scale of the exhibit alone would have made it a challenge for most anyone, but not for Drip’In who set out to source all the art directly from creators with the goal to be on view quickly. The list includes Daos, the rising star from Vietnam, Subyone from France, Mate 2 from the UK, and GTHVN, all of whom started making their work on the house as if they had something urgent to share with the world upon a soon-disappearing canvas. With just one month of work to paint the full house, featuring all in all 110 liters of paint and 185 sprays, Drip’In returns with a monumental premier.

On November 14, in addition to this ephemeral show, a collection of limited-edition art will also be for sale. Street Art aficionados can add to their collections while also helping the community, as works will be auctioned, let’s not forget it, for the benefit of Poussière de vie.

During the event attendees will also have the chance to experience a series of live performances, from Hip Hop dancing to DJ sets by DJ Goosebumps, a multi-award winning DJ in Europe, and DJ Minoto to keep the party going, as well as live video mapping and light shows without forgetting Stefan Leyshon, the famous magician. All of this and more for an Art ephemeral night.
